Topic: TEN Member Richard Weissman will join us for an MCLE Presentation on Receiverships.

This month, we have a special MCLE presentation given by TEN’s own Richard Weissman. Rich will be speaking about receiverships. What is a receiver? A receiver is a neutral fiduciary appointed by the court, both state and federal, to take control and possession of businesses and real and personal property involved in contentious litigation for the purposes of preserving and maintaining the assets pending the conclusion of the litigation or special proceedings. Find out more and join us for a great presentation!

Richard Weissman has served as a State and Federal Court receiver, partition referee, provisional director and appointed fiduciary in over 600 cases in California and other states, controlling and administering assets having an aggregate value approaching $2 billion. The cases involve multi-state pre-judgment asset control and post-judgment collections in Commercial, Family Law, Real Estate, Intellectual Property, and Probate litigation. Federal Court receiverships often involve SEC (fraud/Ponzi schemes) and FTC (billion dollar fraudulent FDCPA) regulatory enforcement cases. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCLA and a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola School of Law, Los Angeles. His experience includes: management of myriad businesses and daily operations, and their assets sales; multi-residential, commercial and single family real property management, construction rehabilitation and court confirmed assets sales. Many state cases involve corporate, partnership and LLC dissolutions, family law support and equalization payment collections, family and probate business and professional practice operations implementing charging orders, sales of intellectual property and interceding in IRS/FTB tax seizures. Mr. Weissman has vast experience in prosecuting ancillary proceedings recovering assets inappropriately transferred to third persons in defraud of creditors.

Mr. Weissman is also a licensed Private Professional Fiduciary and has court appointments involving Special Administration in Probate estates and as a private and court appointed Trustee for trust administration.

One hour (1) of MCLE credit is available free for TEN Members, $30 for guests. Please contact nathan@tenworking.com for more information.

This credit may not be claimed for required MCLE in legal ethics, elimination of bias, or the prevention, detection, and treatment of substance abuse or mental illness that impairs professional competent.

The Hiking Group is co-hosted by TEN: The Esquire Network & The Century City Bar Association

Moderators: Mark Tseselsky (TEN), Marina Fraigun (TEN), Conor Tucker (CCBA)

Description: We’ll be hiking the Escondido Falls Trail at Escondido Canyon Park (27751 Pacific Coast Hwy Malibu, CA 90265).

The Escondido Falls Trail in Escondido Canyon Park is an easy hike 3.7-mile out-and-back; it takes an average of 1 h 37 min to complete. This is one of the most popular hiking trails near Malibu. That’s why we are making it early so we can find parking easier. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

You can park on the Pacific Coast Highway near Winding Way or look for the parking lot. To get there Take I – 10 freeway west to the PCH. Head towards Malibu and make a right turn onto Winding Way. Park in the lot and follow the trail signs. The parking area is right off the Pacific Coast Highway and the trailhead is just across from Escondido Beach. There is a paved road leading to the parking lot and a $12 fee to park in the small lot.
