Topic: “TRADEMARKS MEET HIGH PROFILE CONTEMPORARY ISSUES,” by David Hoffman
David Hoffman has practiced IP law for 35 years. He readily admits that he is a nerd who loves math. David has filed hundreds of trademark applications, and has litigated trademark and other IP cases as well. David enjoys breaking down the complexities of IP into more understandable chunks. To that end, David authored the book, Sobering Trademark Stories. It tells the tales of how many in the wine and beverage industries made trademark selection blunders, and then foolishly doubled down on those mistakes. David will present key trademark law concepts, differences from copyright law, and some interesting recent trademark developments, such as the Washington Redskins, Cannabis, Covid/Coronavirus, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Supreme Court’s decision in the Booking.com case.
