EXPERIENCE: Benjamin Soffer (Ben) has been a litigation attorney for 27 years. He is an excellent lawyer who has extensive civil litigation experience in various areas, including business and commercial disputes, contract law, and product liability. Mr. Soffer has successfully represented businesses and individuals in business litigation matters involving fiduciary duties, trade secrets, defamation, and contract disputes in a wide range of industries, including insurance, advertising, securities, retail, commercial real estate, aviation, construction, food & beverage, and websites. Mr. Soffer has successfully represented clients in personal injury and wrongful death cases involving asbestos-containing products (toxic tort), and serious accidents involving aircraft, trucks, buses, automobiles, seat belts, construction equipment, industrial machinery, and other products. For the past 7 years Mr. Soffer has also represented clients in business and transactional matters, including in connection with entity formation; drafting and reviewing operating, shareholder, and partnership agreements; stock and asset sale agreements; and a wide variety of other types of business agreements. Before founding The Soffer Law Firm, Mr. Soffer was a partner at Perkins Coie LLP — a top-tier international law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers.
EDUCATION: Mr. Soffer, who is admitted to the California State Bar, graduated from Loyola Law School Los Angeles with honors (in the top 5% of his class), and was a member of the Order of the Coif and St. Thomas More honor societies. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Penn State University, and had careers in project and construction engineering, and computer programming, before embarking on his career as an attorney.
PERSONAL: When he is not zealously representing his clients, Mr. Soffer enjoys devoting time to his family, cooking, traveling, gardening, and spending too much time following the English Premier League.
